While the evolving scenario presents a huge opportunity, for fashion creators and marketers it’s critical to identify and understand Fashion’s Future Challenges. The change has never been so unpredictable. This session will see IFF 2014 chairman Mr. Rakesh Biyani in conversation with
fashion experts discussing the way forward. How to create great fashion? How to catalyze the fashion culture by creating new ideas, concepts and categories? What needs to be done to create more fashion spaces & increase consumption and the roadmap to bring the fashion quotient to its next level?

11:30 – 12:45 Malls of East India – Are developers doing enough to attract international and national retailers in to the region? Do we have it or we don’t? With 44 malls already operational and another 30 coming up soon, the mall scenario in east certainly looks throbbing. But a closer look would prompt us to ask a few unavoidable questions. Even after organised retail has changed the dynamics of domestic retail market, why east is somewhat lagging behind? Why some of the best projects has been excessively delayed? Why there has been no change in the vacancy level. In spite of the region’s enviable demographic potential for retail, apart from a few, why rest of the mall developer are still worrying over vacant spaces? Why some of the renowned international fashion brands had to pull out from the best malls of the region What took so long for Lifestyle to come to the region? Is the trading density and rental equation sustainable for the retailers….it is the right time to introspect for both developers and retailers and ask themselves if they have it all to make it work in Eastern India ?

Retailers and developers – they are wooing each other, warring with each other, but can not do without each other.Good retailer-developer relationships become an invaluable strength for the both of them, and become a bedrock for the growth of Retail & Shopping Centres. The session with malls & retailers used to be heated debates at IRF in earlier years. This year’s session surprisingly showed that the relationship had matured – discovering and understanding each other’s expectations and needs, developing respect for each other’s businesses and actually discussing like partners in progress. In fact the issue of CAM or super area was not even mentioned. It will be interesting to know – how the two sides are working it out in the East India.
